My wonderful boyfriend bought me a Lilly plant, the lady in the florist told him that after it stops flowering that we can plant it. So as the lady advised i did what she said, what i am querying is do i cut any part of the plant to enable it to re-flower? not a clue what to do now it's in the ground ....anyone???

It's unlikely to bloom again this year so remove the dead flower to prevent any seed formation and just let the foliage grow. Leaves produce the energy that gets stored in the bulb for next year's flowering whereas seed production will deflect that energy.

I did have one in a pot for my birthday last year which I planted out and it flowered later in the year, but my birthday is Feb. so I think Frogesue is right. But next year it will bloom again if all goes well, and you will be able to enjoy it all over again.
Mine has buds on this year, and further more several little ones round it each with a single bud.
Watch out for the lily beetle, very smart red back, but eats lilies voraciously!
