Been on top of it for the last two years so not had any trouble so far...

Should this be moved to the pests section?

The little gits have a fondness for Frits, Uvularia and Tricyrtis too!

Mine are just poking through now, but the little 'red fella' was obviously lying in wait ~ "was" being the operative word...

I thought I was a bit mad having about 30 pots of lilies (I never put them in the ground), but I can see I'm in good company. Most of them are barely poking up but I'll be out there pronto darting, nipping and crunching.

I did kill around 100 - 150 over the year last year and didn't see any eggs or larvae during that time, hopefully because I was killing the handsome red bug before it got the chance to lay eggs. I checked both big pots today, as they have 20 - 25 Lilies in each pot, and didn't see any Beetles or any leaf damage which is always the first sign.! The young ones in pots are located in a different spot and are shooting up with no sign, so far, of damage. I'm moving the big pots into a sunny spot tomorrow and if the beetle is about that should bring him out as he/she does like to sunbathe.

I found 4, so thanks for the heads up. They were at it like rabbits, so may have already laid eggs, as far as I know.
I see patrolling and Killing as a control measure rather than a preventative. I must also have killed at least a hundred last year, but there were still eggs to be found, which I wiped off, and an infestation of larvae at one point. It only takes a few days on holiday for the little beasts to get past me.

Wilkos sells a bug killer in a yellow spray bottle that kills Lily beetle. Never had a problem since I started using this a few times a year.
