are your lilys in the garden?
if no buy some plant gel and plant your new liliys in them .if no buy some good pestiside and every thing will be fine. if still you have problems buy something from the web that is from america. they have strong nateral stuff. i heard there is a nateral pestesite that is made from a common bacteria in the soil. its very popular farmers use it. google it or even better yahoo it. it all dosnt work out theres allway a gunstore round the corner. ;)

Hi there Darlie Chimmock :D Lily beetle is a pest I know well  They either fly in from outside the area, or lay their eggs close to the plant.

The only thing that may work in the chemical area is Provado, which acts systemically. However it takes a little while to take effect and in the meantime - manual removal will help reduce the damage.

With the grubs its quite easy - just scraping off and disposing of - me I step on them. Others with a more robust stomach use finger and thumb.

With the beetles - you gotta be sneaky. Firstly they fly, but more importantly when alarmed they just drop off the plant and hide belly up - being black, very difficult to spot if there's vegetation underneath. For container grown lilies - I found the best way was to shake the plant, or knock them off, over a clean stone surface - and then stop on them. However those in the border were much more difficult - but a little perseverance with regular examination of the plant worked well.

But there's plenty of it in the gardens, Orchid man - plant gel you HAVE to buy - no option! What do you have in your garden? ;)

Provado Ultimate Bug Killer aerosol containing 0.025% imidacloprid and 0.05% methiocarb does for these within minutes. At this time of the year I patrol the garden in the early morning and can usually catch them "two at a time", which doesn't seem fair I know, but cest la vie. At least they pass on with a grin. If you see things like a coffe grout stuck to the underside of the lilly leaves, they are eggs. Wipe off with a finger and wash them down the sink. But still they come Grrrr.
