lime

    is it to late to lime my brassica plot . i/v got a lot of club root. i should have done it in autumn. but i was busy.

    Should be ok to do it now. I normally lime the soil when I'm planting out my winter brassicas, which is usually around June/July and always get good results.

    If anything, liming in the autumn would mean more chance of the lime being leached away by all the winter rains, so now is probably the best time, given the winter we've just had.

      I don't know a lot about it but I have read:

      1. Liming the hole as you plant into it provides some useful protection against Club Root
      2. First grow the plants on as long as you can in pots.
      3. Grow a Club Resistant variety

      Very contagious, and lots of weeds in the Brassica family to cause it to persist even with good crop rotation.
