Our soil is very acidic and really needs lime, especially on the lawn, which has more moss than grass in places. So the question is when is the best time to apply lime to the grass?

I have a personalised treatment plan from Progreen which is a based on a soil sample I sent to them and they recommend I should put lime on mine in March and then again in September.

The very best time toapply lime is not now, but in early Autumn. Do take a pH reading first though to arrive at the correct quantity per square metre. Then take a second reading in Spring to recheck the pH. I use the one commnly known as Dolomite Flour.

Even if I dont use fertiliser any more, if the value is still low, some eco lawn treatments raise it vry slightly when apploed correctly.

One other thing. Never use Iron Sulphate to treat any moss. Doing that will lower the pH.
