My Linum has gone past its best and Im wondering if I should be cutting it back and if so by how much and will it re grow and re bloom. If not then I will just leave it as its still lovely and floaty but would really like more of the lovely blue flowers. Any advice gratefully accepted

I assume you mean linum perenne, the blue flax Cindy :)
Mine flowered from early spring to just a couple of weeks ago......I trimmed them back and removed all flowered stems. They are now just starting to flower again. In a month’s time they will be in full flower and continue into the autumn.
If they are grown in free draining soil and in a warm to hot spot they will survive the winter and flower again, even better, next year. :)
