My stlll in leaf, Liquid Amba was at 90 degrees with half the trunk snapped. We righted it put ties above and below and put thick tape a1round the snap/wound. Its about banana thickness, 3 metres high, lollypop shaped and was planted in 2003 from a pot. What a shame.

Any ideas what else i can do to save it ?

You`ve done just about all you can MoL. Have you staked the tree to take pressure off the break?

A picture of the break would help.

Why is it still in leaf?

Yup its staked and we tightened string around the wound too.

Why still in leaf ?..I asked here last year and no-one knew. Am i bovvered ? Of course not. Its fab and Ive just bought another one which will have, hopefully, the same "problem". Sorry cant do photo.

Should we put some growing medium on the wound ?

The reason I asked about it being still in leaf is that I always thought many people grew them for their autumn colour.
If yours is in leaf, I presume your not getting any, autumn colour that is.:D

What actually do you mean by growing medium?

I tend to think that the break will always be a weak point unless it grafts itself back together really well.
Also the top growth may well be too much for the remaining section of stem to cope with, while the union is taking place.
