Live chatroom

Instead of going crazy over the threads for Wakey wakey and night night all day, how about we set up a chatroom?

We have one for another forum [for fancy rats] that i'm on and could look into how its hosted and run if its any help?

 

Having hosted chat in another incarnation time ago,live chat is great, but can be risky if not monitored - to prevent hijack by trolls.

Maybe they now have software that can do this - but I haven't heard of it.

 

Sounds good to me, but if its not possible the muppets section kind of works well for this too :D

 

I have never been involved in live chat-rooms so cannot comment to what they are like, but my main concern would be viruses and as fran pointed out troll activity that would cause great concern for not only myself but our other members of gc

 

I think a chat room would be a good addition to the site. Never been on them myself, but I understand they're in real time, so you can have a proper chat without having to wait for a reply.

 

Problem with that then, is that you can't really get on with anything else at the same time!

I have never used one, think this is just fine how it is on here now. Just a bit frustrating when it takes a while to refresh, but I think instant conversation with everybody would be even more frustrating?

If you want it that instant windy, why not use Yahoo instant messenger with anybody who also wants it?

Just thought it might be a good addition to the site Dag and worth a pop. If it's not working Nathan can always get rid of it. But I'm of the opinion that you don't know til you try It might be a lash up, or we might all love it, who knows????? :rolleyes:

 

I am in the same opinion as dag, can just cope on here the way it is, would give it ago though, wouldnt knock it until its tried, still a major concern with troll activity etc as i said before.

 

Chat room is the best answer for people who want to chat. It would de-clutter the forums to

 

I have never used chat rooms either but as everyone says dont knock it until you try it, in the mean time if i want live chat i will use the old fashioned way by picking up the phone :eek: :D :D

I have got that but being me totally thick dont know how to do it got me headphones off e..y(didnt know whether i could say that sites name)
tried it but hadnt a clue mybe its cos i havent any friends to talk too :( :( :D
