I was wondering if it matters that he works in heated,Hydroponic tomato growing greenhouses........where,I've discovered, he raises his own veg too.:skp:

Whoa, a word with the judges could be in order. Either that or get your own hydroponics lab.

It's cheating surely using hydroponics? Thinking about it how do you grow root veg hydroponically? Wouldn't you need really deep containers?

Just had a look, most of the stuff on hydroponics they want you to buy but they do grow roots & it says, because of the lack of constriction, they can grow in amazing shapes.

    Did find this site

I wouldn't class it as cheating per se however it might cause problems for yourself if you mention it to the judges and next year they explicitly mention in the rules that the use of hydroponics is prohibited...:o

Besides there's all kind of odd ways people grow Veg for competitions:yez: I think the favorite for root vegetables is well sieved compost in drain pipes:wink:
