How about making it compulsory for members to include a location in their details.

You are about to give a bit of possibly unwelcome advice or comment, you check the location and find its blank. You could actually provide a drop down list. Gods Waiting Room would do for where I live.

    moan over

where the old dinnersaws went and go to die.

For those of you that have been asleep for the last 50m years it is now around Lyme Bay. I can only conclude that the vast amounts of money being spent on promotiing this international heritage site as The Tourist Destination is being wasted.

    sigh

I agree with Pete and this has come up in the past.

Honestly, has bean, how can you start this when you are a culprit yourself ????

I always look at someone's 'location' if I am going to answer a query ... even though I'm where I am now, I have been in the UK in the past in Bucks and the IoW.

We have the same problem on forums here in Portugal ... can I grow this here? ... no you can't if you live up north in the snow but yes you can if you live down here in the heat ... doh? ...

I've not been asleep, and yes its being wasted.

I had a notion it was the south coast but its not exactly pinpointing it for anyone not from the UK.

It's a good idea - I too look for a location if answering a post.

Not sure about the complusory bit though, but perhaps a strong suggestion to new (and existing members) that it would greatly benefit them. For those paranoid amongst us, it doesn't have to be an exact location - West Sussex is specific enough, while still being vague enough to be helpful, as an example.

PS I knew where the Jurassic Coast is:thumb:

Oh, clever clogs you, Sweets. But a 'general' idea of location is good, ie, North, South, East or West ... or perhaps even in between ... :hehe:

In that case, you'd be 'Deep' South :)

I assume the Jurrasic coast is Dorset, Though it could be Kent or Devon. You can also find dinosaur fossils in Watchet or Ogmore. So, as has been said, don`t be shy, tell us were you are.:hehe:

If you look at a map of England, at the bottom is a patch surrounded by sea. We call that "The Isle of Wight". Look to the left and there's a little village called Poole. To the left of that is a sticky-out splodge and we call that the "Isle of Purbeck".:) A beautiful area that deserves to be better known than "The Jurassic coast". Swanage, at New Year is magical.
I live in Lymington but as no one has heard of that, The South Coast tells anyone my climate. Don't see the need to be too specific. Don't we all know the nicknames of areas? Balham=gateway to the South. Watford= get your passports out, you're going into Scotland:lollol: Wales= look out for low-flying spears.:hehe:
Pete, I've found another treacle mine, I was told it was in Shropshire.
I find that most people describe their climate/soil when asking for answers Can't see the need for any compulsion:scratch:

Can't see any purpose for compulsion, but an advisory explaining the benefits of an approximate and easily understandable geographic location might be an idea.

I thought treacle came from wells Pete:old:

`One, indeed!' said the Dormouse indignantly. However, he consented to go on. `And so these three little sisters--they were learning to draw, you know--'

`What did they draw?' said Alice, quite forgetting her promise.

`Treacle,' said the Dormouse, without considering at all this time.

`I want a clean cup,' interrupted the Hatter: `let's all move one place on.'

He moved on as he spoke, and the Dormouse followed him: the March Hare moved into the Dormouse's place, and Alice rather unwillingly took the place of the March Hare. The Hatter was the only one who got any advantage from the change: and Alice was a good deal worse off than before, as the March Hare had just upset the milk-jug into his plate.

Alice did not wish to offend the Dormouse again, so she began very cautiously: `But I don't understand. Where did they draw the treacle from?'

`You can draw water out of a water-well,' said the Hatter; `so I should think you could draw treacle out of a treacle-well--eh, stupid?'

`But they were IN the well,' Alice said to the Dormouse, not choosing to notice this last remark.

`Of course they were', said the Dormouse; `--well in.'

To assist our local tourist office here's the link.

    http://www.jurassiccoast.com/

I live in the East Devon bit.

I have to grovel but having it plastered all around me and the money being spent on its promotion I assumed most people knew where it is. I shall have to write to my local councillor (maybe my counseller as well).

I thought 'Jurassic Coast' meant that nearly all the inhabitants were old :hehe:. I was thinking that I might move there. :rotfl: :rotfl:
