I bought a few rols of that Log Border stuff you can get to make borders (it's like peices of Log cut in half all attached by wire).

I wanted to create a simple border around a small rectangle shaped patch outside my home to the side. I presume you just dig this stuff into the dirt to make it stable? the problem I have is the dirt isn't very deep, and theres concrete underneath, the Log Border isn't sturdy and I cant dig it in as deep as I'd like, it will only go into the ground about 1/4 of the height, any tips or ideas how I can make it not as wobbly??

Can you buy some stakes to knock into the ground and attach it to that?

Are you intending to grow things inside this area, Evokazz? Or put down gravel and pots? If it's too shalow to drive posts in, it'll be a bit shallow for growing much either.

Not growing anything no, just wish to make it look tidy......the Border stays upright (well today in the wind it has) but the problem is....the border is at the end of my drive, not actual garden, and drive is open to passersby, and kids, they rarely come on the drive, but wanted it sturdy, you know what kids r like lol.

    That's ok, then! :D

I think Diziblonde's suggestion of using posts is a good one - you could set them in post-fix, and attach the roll once it's set firm. I still wouldn't want kids to walk on it - the metal that holds the bits together isn't all that strong ;)

It usually comes in bags at the hardware store or big garden centre.
It's just sand, cement, gravel ready mixed, no need to add water so they say.

I nail mine to a cut strip of hardboard (a thin strip between the wires) before digging it in.

This way it's easier to judge the exact lengths. The hardboard will also bend to allow for curves and will rot away once the border is established leaving good, straight edges.

That's a good way of using it, Ickleweed - I think I could well use that in the future! Thanks very much! :D

Hi. I wish I'd have thought of that Ickleweed! They look very sturdy. We have tonnes of log roll on our garden, we added extra stakes as Diziblonde suggested. Can I reccommend treating them too. We sprayed all ours with fence stuff first, to weather protect it. [IMG]
