      Ooh one of my photinia is looking sick..... Could this just be a lack of water?? Or something more sinister

      They look like young plants and with the dry weather we've had recently it could well be a lack of water. Their roots won't have established fully so will still be fairly close to the surface where it's dry. It would also be a good idea to give them a feed. :)
