As the result of following instructions about double stratification of tree peony seeds had gone badly wrong I tried it nature's way - put them at the bottom of the garden last winter - and this is what happened!

Mind you, I got a couple of self-seeded buddlejas too, and it'll be fun separating everything out! :D

It's certainly the pot I chucked all the tree peony seeds in a year and a half ago!

I can't be certain of the exact one, asI got the seeds from Branklyn - but it'll be a bit like this one.....

I can imagine the leaves in my photo turning out like that, although the colour is a bit different

I hope you got a lot of patience - cos it will be awhile before they flower. Lovely healthy seedlings though - and peonies are such loverly blowsy flowers. My tree peony is in full flower, though the others are not nearly at that stage.

I'll see if I can get a pic of my yellow one grown from seed tomorrow.
That reddish tinge reminds me of something else.

They look wonderfully healthy Dendy, Nature's way is usually the best. [IMG]
Windy, maybe just chuck the seeds in a pot and stick them at the bottom of the garden :D [IMG]

Loverly. Let nature do the freezing for you!

If you want to know more, go to the Winter-sowing forum of the Gardenweb forums - they are evangelical about the effect of cold on seeds!

Collected them from under the tree peonies at Branklyn, when I did a day's voluntary work there. There were loads of them, and loads of little plants growing all over the place, all sizes and ages!

Remember the seeds neither of us had any luck with, Windy? It happens to me too! :D

I collect bits too from anywhere i go, but last summer and autumn, kept forgetting to buy either labels or labelling pen [IMG] . Got loads of cuttings and seeds, most either taken or coming up, but not a blooming clue what they are [IMG] [IMG] . Eg. the 40 rose cuttings, will have to wait for a while to see a) what colour, b) what type, climbing, shrub etc. I've learnt my lesson, got pens, pencils and labels now. :D
