I've got a boring square of gravel at the front of the house that I'd like to turn into a garden. Thought maybe a gravel garden would be easiest, but no idea where to start. Are there any books on garden design that might give me ideas and plans? It wouldn't be done this year so I've plenty of time.

The Gravel Garden by Beth Chatto is a good starting place.

I sometimes like to just Google ideas, and select the images option on the search results. I rarely act upon the inspiration it yields, but it's nice to see what others have done.

Try this, but at the same time, don't be afraid to keep posting here.

Look for "rock" gardening. Keep in mind however, "gravel" and "rocks" do get warm to hot if in direct sun that generates to the plant, and can "cook" the roots.

I'll start off with one question, will do another thread for it if that's ok.
