Looking for a new lawnmower, due to having arthritis in my back its not easy to find a suitable one, just tried a hover one, that was a lot harder to work than my old self propelled one, any help would be appreciated.

Would you consider a battery powered one. They are lighter and they have self propelled ones now. I have one that's 8 years old now. Looking at the ones they have in stores these days, I'm amazed at how far they've come since I bought mine.

I bought a Bosch Rotak from B&Q last year, very impressed with it and it's fairly easy to push around.

Depending on the size of your lawn, a £50 Bosch model may do it as they are fairly light. Those Flymo/Hover ones weigh a ton in my experience!

Thanks for reply, it's quite small actually, at a guess 20ft x 12ft

      Cheers

Fellow arthritis sufferer here, and I would wholeheartedly recommend the Bosch Rotak machines - I switched from a Flymo last year after the Flymo packed up for the second time, and was shocked at just how poor the Flymo really was once I started using the Bosch.

They even did (probably still do) a model with upturned hand grips to make life even easier, although I get on just fine with mine without that. The height adjuster is the easiest I have ever used, and the grass bin is huge - - the only downside I have found is that the grassbox can be a bit reluctant to let the grass back out when emptying, requiring a bit of shaking.

Sadly not. I know that cordless tech has moved on a bit recently, but I still prefer a cable.

Better off without the ergonomic handles - mine has them and my wrists start to hurt even just doing a small lawn (and I don't have arthritis) :noidea:

Their control bar on the conventional handle is light enough to pull up anyway, and there is very little effort otherwise expended using the mower. I generally blast over my lawn in a matter of minutes.

I have the Rotak 40 although mine is the older model, and not the Ergoflex.

@Colin Davies - I got an email this morning advertising this which made me think of you :)

Looks to be a bit of a bargain!
