While I was looking for something in my shed yesterday, I came across a few items "stored" I had forgotten about, small things, tins of twine, 3 now, new cover for mini greenhouse 75% off Wilkos last autumn, another packet of clips for greenhouse bubble wrap etc ,etc.
Does anyone else have these "Eureka" type moments, found a bottle of "Jeyes" patio cleaner, I suppose I had better get it done then, no excuse now. :thud::heehee:

Yes, always buying 'odds & ends' putting them away and then forgetting about them. Nice when you find them again though!!:dancy:

Funny you should mention , I found in the garage a jam jar half full of runner bean seeds they must be donkeys years old as in at least 8 or 9 years could be longer , but I cant get the skrew lid off and thats why in the past I never bothered to plant them. They look ok through the glass any tips how to get the lid off without braking the glass ?

Do you remember in the 50s :old:, jam etc had to be opened by piercing the lid, with a sharp knife,, plenty of stabbed hands then.

If it is a plastic lid, I would break the lid with a sharp implement :paladin: , see above.

I will have to take your word for it "50's" ;)

I will plant some up this afternoon, you never know they have been kept in the cool and darkness so that should help and very airtight.

Run the lid under the hot tap for a while - this will expand the lid in relation to the glass jar, hopefully enough for you to then unscrew it (use a dry cloth to grip the lid)

The hot water did it, talk about stuck on I thought get the knife out.
I have planted up 6 beans and in the prop , so that should speed thing up a bit.

The variety is quite old , dont know what it is though , got the seeds from a man who grew them for over 50 years he is 84 now, he just collected them every year and saved them, very tasty lots of flavour.

I will have to get my camera out and take a photo of them as they have a blackish center then fade to a chestnut brown. I cant even remember what colour the flowers are ?

You can't remember the 50s Pam ! You had to stab the jam lid to release it . Salad was a slice of ham , a sliced boiled egg , two leaves of lettuce and a tomato ! Radish and spring onions if you were lucky ........Sunday tea was very boring !
