Just finished reading 'The Natural Gardener' by Val Bourne, from the library. Actually published in 2004 but new to me- such a nice book I shall have to buy it. I think it ranks with my old favourite ' Better Gardening' by Robin Lane Fox, 1982.
Anyone else got favourite books? ;)

[IMG] I, like Palustris have a shelf where all my gardening books live. They are all my favourites at some time or another when they come up with the answer I am looking for, or the picture I want, or whatever the moment calls for. Some are old & tatty & some are new & nice, but they all have their place... [IMG] ;)
My shelf is about 2 1/2 metres Peter...........!!!

Palustris - Some time ago a survey revealed that the average house in Britain has just 6 books. Do you realise how many people have to go without to balance your 15 metres. :D :D :D

As I now live in a very small cottage i was surrounded by boxes of books and nowhere to put any more bookshelves. I had to take all novels to the charity shop except for some classics and the science fiction ones. Now I have room for more facts! I use the library a lot, and if I particularly like a book, then I buy it.
It is sad that many people don't read- although Google is usually my first stop now if I want to know something.
I am very envious of Palustris!

We have at least that amount of shelf space full of other books too. My wife also collects them, in her case Cookery books and Detective novels. Our 5 children also are avid book collecters too, so there must be an awful lot of people out there with no books at all!
The saddest thing is that we are rapidly running out of space to keep them.

At the last count (for insurance purposes) I had around 1000 books. Numerous topics. The most worn ones are gardening and cross-stitch. So there must be a few more homes with no books!
    :D :D :D :D ;)

My Son never goes to the library or borrowes books. He visits book shops and likes to buy.
    He has about six/Seven hundred,and will re-read.
I on the other hand always go to the library.
Never read a book twice. Only own nine reference
books, which needless to say my son bought me.
Both of us has always got a book lying around for that spare few minutes.
