What, when Wickes change their formula for the worse yet again, and somebody (who's bought some of last year's stock) responds with "there's nothing wrong with mine"?

I buy their sharp sand, but i wouldn't touch their compost with a barge pole.

                  :snorky: I remember that fiasco.
I hadn't been on the forum so hadn't seen the complaints. I bought my compost, realised it was rubbish, then looked on here to see if anyone else was unhappy.
Off I marched (drove) back to the supplier with multiple bags of mattress stuffing
When the self confessed non gardening staff refused to see anything wrong with their product I wielded my mobile phone and gardeners corner in their face :heehee:
I got a refund! Another tick ✅ for gc :snorky:

To be fair to the manufacturers, once I had reported the problem they flew over from Ireland and came down to Shineyland to inspect the compost. They agreed that it wasn't as it should be, took away all the bags, gave me a replacement of Jack's Magic, a £50 garden centre voucher (used as a raffle prize on Open Day) and Wickes also gave me my money back.

I don't suppose they withdrew all the bags from the stores but I hope they got their quality control sorted out.

@shiney i agree that hopefully they have sorted the quality but I definitely won't be rushing back.
If it wasn't for your posts to the ' top people ' that I was able to show my local store I don't think they would have done anything. In hindsight I'm thinking they probably kept selling the inadequate compost. This infuriates me because new gardeners might think they have failed. Why would they question the compost?
Anyway rant over, am I on the wrong thread? :snorky:
Back to the point, yes it's a brilliant forum :wub2:

My experience with the manufacturers was not so good I'm afraid. Post an email to Westland regarding the dreadful compost I bought from Wicks, a considerable time later I got a phone call from the MD who was all terribly pally when he discovered I knew someone he knew (owner of a huge garden centre who bought my old house), promised me the earth and was offering to donate to the charities I support with my little plant sales and asked me to email him with my findings on the compost. Did so. Deafening silence in response. Then get an email ages later saying not heard from me.:rolleyespink::mad:. Pigs might fly. Emailed back and again nothing, all very odd and waste of my time. Made me feel worse than if I hadn't bothered to complain in the 1st place. He might be Irish but didn't charm the birds out of my tree! I'm married to an Irishman so well used to their tactics:).
