    Advice again please...

We want to grow a low interesting 15 metre long hedge (4ft max) on the side of our garden which slopes away to a small brook. We purchased 20 very small mahonia aquifolium plants to do the job but now realise that they will need reinforcments to cope with the job. We have been thinking along the lines of a combination of berberris, cottoneaster, spirea, choisea etc...
Would these be the obvious choises to work together to do the job planted at about 2-3ft apart? Thanks Steve.

do you want to end up with a formal hedge or an informal screan? If your land slopes away to a brook do you really want to hide it? Is it a sunny or shady site?

Our garden is bordered by a brook and we have to have hedge to stop the garden being washed away.

Lonicera Nitida Baggesens Gold is a lovely low growing compact shrub for hedges.
