Hottest day of the year yesterday, well over 30. I was quite happily snoozing in the shade at the bottom of the garden BUT my long haired Border Collie wasn't, she had planted herself by the gate that partitions the main garden from my veggie patch in full sun! I thought Border Collies were intelligent? or maybe just loyal?

She does a good "send away" so I sent her indoors, she's also be known to lie in the same spot in snow when I'm down the bottom of the garden, I dunno, loyalty, madness or love? Latter for me, I love her to bits!

I have a Border Collie too and her loyalty and intelligence amaze me constantly. Incredible dogs.

There is a memorial to a border collie up in the Peak District, at Lady Bower reservoir. WARNING: Its a sad tale, so have the tissues ready.

The particular collie had been with her farmer up on the high ground, as usual, as they had sheep up there. The farmer died suddenly on the open moors. It was about 3 weeks before anyone found his body, and when they did, there was the half starved collied loyally laid next to him.

each dog has his own character peculiar to the race and as a matter of fact border collies are quite intelligent.
I personally like the chow chow which is a bit of a rebel in the sense that you call him and he goes to the other direction! Stubborn but soft!

To be honest Clueless, if I "went" I think Tess would probably follow me, Shadow and Arwen would miss me for an hour or two, Tess has been daddies girl from the moment we met and may long should it remain so!
