This is a very lucky chappie. I almost gave him a coat of wood stain but thanks to his bright jacket against the dark panel I spotted him on the brush up stroke:)
Anyway...what is it going to turn into??

Lol, many years ago, when I was studying biology at university me and my mates were out in a field excursion and while crossing a road on the mountains spotted this really impressive bug slowly crossing the street. We made a cordon and stopped the traffic (sp****... luckily) to help him across, lol.

    Great shot, Paladin! :thumb:

I agree with both roders "...Looks like candy...."

... and Daisees "Like his little tail! Looks reminiscent of a puppy dog!"

Isn't it late in the year for caterpillars, Walnut, or will this handsom chappie hibernate? - - - in a cocoon? :cnfs:

Having said that, I saw dragonflies mating and laying eggs in my friends pond just two days ago.

Hi Kedi, I think our insects are confused this year, what with all the rain and lack of sun, especially in my area anyway. I think this is the first week wev'e had without any rain in months. Last weekend my garden was awash with bees and butterflies as if making up for lost time. It was lovely to be sat amongst the busy goings on.:luv::D

Hi Kandy, yes he will overwinter as a chrysalis, the dragonfly eggs will hatch into nymphs next spring as the water warms up, they can be nymphs from 1-5 years depending on the species.
