I do enjoy my mackerel fishing and did read of this fact on another fishing forum last year (WSF). It is surprising how many fishermen don't know of this fact and handle the fish and I do pass on the message whenever possible to varying responses. (It is only hearsay though, I haven't seen any more formal reports)
I like to use a hook with a longer shank so I can hold the hook to shake the smaller ones off .
Weekends I do like to get up early to do some fishing, watch the sun come up then home to freshly caught mackerel on toast for breakfast:sunny:

Mackerel pate on toast or crusty bread. Yummmmm :)

I assume we all know how to make pate?

Made some last year, but after it was sat in the fridge for a month, got too scared to try it.
