Got up this morning for our normal first amble at 6-10 am, walked into field as usual, then Maddie spotted a cat, I have warned her to leave them alone, they scratch all to no avail, she took off round the bushes onto the cycle path, I stood and waited for a minute or two, then went to have a look for her, gone.
I went back into field to see if she had come in lower down at the entrance off the cycle path.
    , no sign.
I then started to get worried, after looking around the side streets, my neighbour appeared, she went one way me the other, hour and half later I was panicking, traffic was picking up and still no sign, I had walked my legs off , I went and knocked up another neighbour at 7-45, he and his wife jumped in their car and started searching further away. I went back to the bungalow again to see if any sign, phoned police, after several press button options I got to speak to a person, who put me through to a discontinued number, left a message on the PCSOs phone, still waiting on him. then my neighbours phoned, they had found her nearly two miles away.
When she arrived home I was concerned, she hadn`t been hit by a car, and she might be dehydrated, but she was physically fine.
I have kept her on the lead for her short walks and she is shaking when we go out, she wouldn`t eat all day, but eventually had her chicken. So hopefully in a few days she will be okay again, and get her confidence back.

Scary Pam, so glad she came home safe. I used to have the same problem with Tiffy if she saw a rabbit. Farmers round here just shoot dogs who go on their land (even though there's no sheep locally) and don't even bother asking questions later so she was always on lead in some areas, after a few hairy escapades.

Good grief, Pam - what a worry!! I would have been frantic if that had been Ozzy, so I can only imagine how you must have felt :grphg:
Bravo to your neighbours though - without their kind efforts, who knows just how long you would have been kept in limbo :doggieshmooze:
Hrmph! As for the PSCO not returning your call .... :mute:

Yes, Maddie has probably had enough of a shocker for one day, not surprising it has put her off her food. Glad you managed to get some chicken into her eventually.

Good luck over the next few days, Pam & Maddie

Had to take Maddie to vet Wednesday, she shakes, and pants when it`s time to go out, she is very frightened of the outside world. She is on tranquilisers at the moment, she is totally normal indoors, but panics when outdoors, I can only hope time will improve her.

Probably plenty adders round here, it is noise that terrifies her. She was always bad with bangs and fireworks especially, we have some of those very noisy exhausts on cars about, it is those in particular that she is worried about, she would always be aware if any about before.
I think there was cars/traffic involved, to get to where she was she had to cross a main road, possibly tyres screeching and horns blaring type of incident, as she has no road sense she could easily have run into the road.

Poor Maddy - I do hope she recovers soon Pam.
Think it may have to be a case of back to basics with her: e.g. put her lead on several times a day, but don't take her out. A few days later, put her lead on but only take her to the front door. Few days later, repeat but only go a few feet then return home.
It may be a bit of a palaver but it is one way to get her confidence back, slowly but surely.

Angela who found her came to see her today, she was telling me, it was like Maddie couldn`t see her, she came to her name blindly, normally when she sees her she runs to her , she looks after her while I`m away and spoil her, her husband was sharing his smoked salmon with her last week, and they allow her to sleep on the bed with them.

Not very good @Jenny namaste , she seemed so much better Wednesday, back to normal, I, foolishly decided to stop the tablets, she deteriorated as they came out of her system quite quickly back to square one, so she is back on the pills, I have also bought her a thundershirt. [IMG]which is supposed to help calm them by applying a gentle pressure, make them feel secure.
Think this is going to be quite a long term plan till she feels more secure, she is most upset when we hear a motorbike, so think that one was involved in the trauma.
