As anyone got any idea what this plant is?
I have had it posted on the General page showing the progress for a while but nothing.

    It's history.
A couple of years ago I went to Madeira and got a bag of mixed bulbs.
After about a year this grew from 2 of the bulbs.
    This was taken last year.
It died down for the winter and I thought it had died
But again this year it as grown the same.
    No bigger no flowers.
    What can it be?

Hi Lyn, I remember when you brought all your bulbs back with you.

My first reaction was that it looks like a Canna reaching for the sun, almost vine-like. Could it be one of the Gingers like Cautleya?

Hopefully you will get an identification soon.

I have no idea what it is.
    No-one seems to no.
I have just taken it to my Dads retirement village where they have a large heated greenhouse.
Hopefully it may do better there and have some flowers next year so we can see what it is.

I'm pretty sure its hedychium gardnerianum, great ginger as Victoria says.
Flowers around now if it going to and is highly scented, not really hardy but can survive outside in a very protected sunny position.

A spell in a heated greenhouse will do it no end of good and help to bulk it up to flowering size.

The Tropical Palace gardens (remember the waterfalls and tiles Lyn?) there had a forest of them and looked fantastic although they may not have been in flower when you were there.
This was a part of it.
