    Nice pics Strongy.

I didn't realise Madeira was so mountainous.
Always thought of it as a very lush place.

Marley, we were about 2500 ft, just lucky as the rainbow was there as we arrived.

Pete, there is very little level land, it is very mountainous for an Island only 35 miles long.
Every bit of land is cultivated, mostly terraced.

    Lovely pictures Strongy.

I am looking forward to some pictures of plants. I think there are quite a few that originate from there.

Absolutely beautiful photos, strongy, I just love that cottage, so me .... sorry we couldn't join you for a day or two there but these other commitments got in the way ... would have been marvellous. Maybe it wasn't meant to happen ... we missed out in October 2006 when we went to the IoW and then now ... maybe it's not on our cards to meet .... :( Perhaps third-time lucky and you may come to mainland Portugal ..... :)

Look forward to the flora and fauna pics .... :luv:

Lovely striking images, Strongy. They made my feet ache just looking at them. I believe that the island is of volcanic origins? I bet they have some fantastic wild flowers there?

The scenery, the plants - all fantastic! :gnthb:

Like Marley, I just love the way the rainbow goes over the mountains, very unusual.

I just love the Flamboyant trees and I think the Cassia Fistula is the tree / shrub that I have often admired in Portugal.

We saw those Sausage Trees for the first time in Turkey, they look hilarious, as though someone hung them up as a joke.

    Thanks for sharing.
