Some of the leaves on my greenhouse tomatoes are turning yellow and my neighbour suggests a dose of magnesium. Since my garden centre appears to have sold out of anything with magnesium in it, I've armed myself with some epsom salts and looked on the net for a 'recipe' - which has served only to confuse me. Some sites suggest a folia spray, some watering with it so I ask ....

What's the preferred way to apply the epsom salts; how much should I add to how much water and how often should I apply it?

You can dissolve 1 tablespoon of Epsom salts in a pint of water. Spray the tomatoes every day for a week.

Or you can dissolve some in a watering can and water it in. It's up to yourself.
I use the spray method as it works for me.

I use the spray method too. Mine have always recovered very quickly, maybe I caught it early, but I have only ever had to make one application, but I read people saying everything from "every day" to "Make a second application a fortnight later".

Only problem with Epsom Slats is the cost from the chemist! Magnesium sulphate from the garden centre usually much cheaper. (But if you only have to make one application, like me, you don't need much!)
