    Our soil is light enough to do this and my neighbour has used this for many years with excellent crops.

    :D Please don't laugh Dave..he is a church elder and parish chairman..one of the old ...old school :rolleyes:
    A real gentleman and a gardener who is always on your shoulder...you know.."I wouldn't plant them now son" or "Done away with your veg...what if there is another War??????". :D

    Not having to use green string and lables, thats what muy husband has to do to get everything back in the right place!

    He was a very mean farmer,
    There was a tool count every day..
    He is now a multi Millionair...........

    First pic roders...I have a slashing hook like the ones painted at the far end..will post a pic !
    But only if you can tell me what they were used to ..Slash! :D

    OK Pal.... Slasher was used for slashing undergrowth.
    Layering hedging.
    Spliting withies for hurdles.
    Unless of course you know different.................. ;)

    I know I slag my neighbour off, but have to say he has had his hawthorn (mixed) hedge layered expertly.

    On the other side though i think instruction in pollarding lime trees is required.

    That picture brings back a few memories I can tell you!
    Could almost be my Grandad at work.But he smoked roll ups! [​IMG] [​IMG]

    The Slashing hook looks the same too!
