    Hi,

I am not particularly well up on this pc lark but I know some of you here are and hope you can assist me.

I have caught this little blighter on my main pc, I have rkill'd it and running Malwarebytes anti-malware.

Is this all I need to do, or is there anything else?

Hi lollipop, I had the same thing the other day and had to format my hard drive as this security "advert" would not let me do a thing unless I downloaded the software, Iam no expert but I am sure it is a vicious virus

I think it has gone now, a royal pain in the rear-7hrs to get rid of it! You're right Woo, it is definitely a no no for me to manually mess with the registry.

Thanks both of you for the assistance.

There is an article on it here.

    http://www.2-spyware.com/remove-internet-security-2010.html+

However the site of the article itself must also be suspect until you find other sites or forums that support what they are saying. I suspect this site is genuine - but my motto 'is suspect them all'.

What it said in the article (which i suspect is correct) is that most trojans (and other malware) have to be invited onto your computer by you. They do this by giving you a misleading message about an error and then ask you to download a program that is a solution for it.

My policy is to never download something that is offered to me. If I want to download a program, I will do a bit of research and download the program of my choice. You can often close unwanted screens with the key Alt and F4 together, but I think even this can be disabled sometimes. If it is disabled its a sure sign of malware afoot. In that case it might be better to turn off the power to the machine.

Incidentally - if you have the name of a program like that - you can always Google the name, as I have done, and you will generally be told a lot about it.

Hi Peter ,I suspect that it is one of these that even if you click on the cancel and not download ,it will still infect your Computer so it leaves a lot of people in a quandary of how to get away from it,There are a lot of these about,(I,ve done it in the past):dh::dh::)

Thanks Peter, that is what it wanted me to do, but of course I didn't click any part of it, it just carried on regardless-disabled my change wallpaper and left it with a green screen saying your system is infected.

It may have got in when I have clicked on a link somewhere, either way I now obviously must address the fact that my security software is inadequate to the task of keeping such stuff out. The thing is, I use a simple user account when surfing the net, not an administrator one, I had thought ( obviously) naively that that would not give them a chance of getting in.

I would be very grateful for any good suggestions as to a free security download that will keep this one, or any future viruses or adware out.

I have been infected with this self same thing on Friday !!! I also have no wallpaper and a green screen which says the pc is infected. I cant get past it. I have NOT clicked on anything. Will I need to format the PC ? ( I really hope not as I have precious things on there ) or can I put a spyware/malware/adware removal program on? If I can, how do I do it, as I dare not go into Internet explorer to download anything whilst it is still on my pc.

P.S. This is a secondary PC Im using at the moment

P.P.S. I use AVAST anti virus and have done for several years. It has picked up things in the past no problem. This malware still got through...... how?

 Well, plus stay away from Facebook & such likes.....!!!! That is where I got this melt down trojan from.. All I did was open a message from a friend I talk to loads on there............ Only it wasn't from her.. As soon as I clicked onit to open it that was it... It started melt down & nothing.... Absolutely nothing would stop it... Even re-formatting didn't do it.. I had to have a special scrubber put on it.... :dh: So now I no longer visit Facebook..!!!! Then Orange went bad too Arghh.. Flipping computers..!!!!

I feel out of things, I don't get these problems. They must be like moths, attracted to the Anti-Virus searchlight. I'm completely in the dark.
