    Hi,

I have some Mangetout that are just starting to go up my canes, the strands are about 6-8" long but they are flowering already.

As it is my first time growing these I am not sure what to expect.

So how high should they grow?
Should I pluck these flowers off to encourge further growth/greater yield?
Do I just leave them to their own devices?
Is pollenation necessary (there are plenty of insects flying about in my garden)

    Any advice greatly appreciated.

Hi, my mangetout started flowering about 3 weeks ago and they are currently about 2 foot high.
I left them to their own devices and now have a bumper crop of peas without having to do anything.
Hope this helps and good luck with them :)

Just let them do their own thing, we started picking ours a couple of weeks ago - delicious!

I leave mine to their own devices.
All you have to do is watch for the peas, pick them and eat them.
The first of mine are ready now.

    Hi
I do the same as Alice and let them do their own thing. If they have something to climb up they can definitely reach 4-5ft.. mine have ;)

We've managed to grow these too, though my canes aren't tall enough..they seem to be a lot easier to grow than the proper peas which aren't doing very well!
