We decided to go to Mannington Gardens ( owned by Lord and Lady Walpole) for a day out.
Doh, the house and gardens were closed but the nature walks were open so we decided to do the walks and return today with a picnic to see the house and gardens :)

Wooden walkways were in place for some of the way then we detoured into muddy paths, stiles and sheep :hehe:
The whole place was awash with butterflies, dragonflies, damselflies. It was glorious.

You can just see hubby striding out ahead!

Here are some of the pretty wildflowers we passed in the meadow

A darkish photo of me tackling a stile. OH tripped when he crossed it :hehe:

View of the lake from the hide (as close as we were allowed)

Thanks Kedi, the trip today was well worth it. The rose gardens were magnificent and the scent and perfume on the air was just gorgeous.

Oh, just look at that lawn! Just how Hubby always wants his to be, an English lawn. I like lawns a bit longer so that the grass can sway in the wind. :)

Well, you had perfect weather again, couldn't have been any nicer. I would have loved to sit on that bench and enjoyed the roses, must have been heavenly.

There is something about such walled garden that I just love. Pity that they don't make them any more, but I guess you need a large garden, something that is not so common these days.

    Thanks for sharing, Kath.

Thanks Kedi, I love walled gardens too. I love seeing how people grew all their own food, herbs etc in the kitchen gardens. At one garden we went to deep in the woods was the "ice house" I think the old houses and gardens are just so interesting. :)

Thanks for the lovely comments everyone. Rosa I thought you had seen me before :hehe:
Once is enough for anyone :)

Robert yes they take some beating I think. Especially on a beautiful sunny day with a lovely blue sky. Mind you hubby was huffing and puffing a bit :hehe: We kept finding a seat in the shade for a little rest.
