hi hope someone can advise me on a magnolia i bought 2/3 years ago.
It seems to be thriving, quadrupled in size with dark green glossy leaves, but it hasn't flowered yet. any ideas?

1)if you live in scotland you need a variety "donation"
2)they are said to like aftenoon sun not morning sun
3)they are acid loving.. is the soil ok?....... give them some ericaceous compost anyway
    4) be patient

Just to re-enforce the paitence advocated by The Lady Gardener. Without knowing the specific variety you could be waiting up to 10 years before it flowers. Think of them as long lived small trees rather than big shrubs.

    Hi Caroljames
Dark green glossy leaves sounds good. Is it a "Grandiflora"? A twice yearly good dose of sequestrene will help keep the soil acid, yellowy leaves is a sign that this is needed urgently. But I reckon you will need to wait a while for flowers. But it will be worth it. My 25 year old Soulangiana, in a north facing front garden, is the absolute mostest for about 10 days a year, frost and wind allowing.
