They have been in longer than any of my other potatoes, and are starting to die back but have not flowered at all! They were healthy and huge before.
Anyone got any experience with marabel? I grew them from the nicebig ones from asda.

Difficult to see but it looks like you have them in a container, so maybe lack of water or feed?

Potatoes don't always flower, if they are earlies then it's time to dig them up and eat them.

Does anyone know if whether or not the potato plants feed themselves back into the tubers as they die or do they Just die off without doing so? I know that plants can draw the nutrients back out of leaves as they die, hence why I ask.:)

The seed tuber you originally planted will wither and die, but not the new tubers.

Thats not what I mean, I mean to ask if the foliage will die back into feeding the new tubers?

From the photo's they do not look like they are dieing off, but you will know better. Potatoes can often get battered about before final harvest, often falling over, losing leaves etc etc.

Marabel are a main crop potato which means approx. 16-20 weeks to maturity so that means from an early April sowing, harvest should be between end July to end August, this is just a guide of course and other factors contribute such as flowering, dieing back of foliage or even "testing" of a plant by having a furtle around in the soil to see how big the tubers are, if they not ready push the soil back and leave a bit longer, feed and water.

Nope, the leaves dying back means the plant is a gonna, the tubers will not get any bigger.
