My daughter Corri is running in the London Marathon next month. She got a late entry because someone dropped out through injury. Not so lucky for them....
The charity she's running for is Asthsma Research because her husband and nephew both have the illness. Corri is now under pressure to raise her sponsorship money of £1500 (she's a third of the way there already). If you would like to sponsor her you can read all about it on:

good luck to her! I've never done more than the Tesco breast cancer fun run! But my husband is preparing to walk from Dover to Cape Wrath in 2 years' time, in aid of RNIB (as he's got glaucoma)- so I'll have to hang on in here, and put up a request for him then!

whilst waiting for a taxi today at asda i got talking to an elderly gentleman, just in general about the nasty weather and stuff when he said something about how cold it was at 10 thousand feet.he went on to tell me he`d just been to pick up some photographs he`d had developed that were taken whilst doing a parrachute jump last week for charity for cancer.we stood there in the rain looking at them.he was strapped to another man waving and laughing flying through the air having the time of his life.i felt privaliged to have met such a man.amazing people do amazing things to help others.the twinkle in his eye made the day brighter.he raised £3,000 and next month he`s planning to sky walk (i think it`s called) somewhere in Glasgow.oh and just to add, he was 81 years young!

Wonderful story about the 81 year old man! A friend of mine who is confined to an electric wheelchair and has been for many years, expressed her desire to go in a plane which she'd never done. So, when she was about 72, friends arranged for her to be taken up in an old WWII fighter - a Hurricane, I think it was. She had to be lifted in and out by about six strong guys and it was incredibly painful for her being moved like that but she relished the experience. I know she wasn't fund raising or anything but you gotta admire these folk!!

    Hi Folks
I'm delighted to say that Corri has reached her fundraising target and her firm are going to give her a further £400 towards Asthsma Reseach so she has cracked £2000. Her training is going well and she is very excited (and nervous)about the biggest challenge she has ever faced.
I'm going down on the day to cheer her on along with my husband and hers. We'll be at the 11 mile marker at Rotherhythe outside the Adam and Eve pub. It's where the Red Cross have their cheering team and I'll be there because I work for them. Corri did the Great North Run in support of the Red Cross last September so they've had a large amount of sponsorship (she likes to spread it around!). Everyone will get a cheer from us but an extra loud one for Corri.
