Marigold Seeds

Hi

I saved french marigold seeds last year and so far none have germinated,i brought a packet of same sowed them and within 4 days they had germinated and i have 50 11/2" plants but the ones i saved will not germinate,what have i done wrong,
these where in a window propergater and they where not F1s, thanks for any suggestions

Maybe they were not ripe when to picked them, you need to wait until the plant is at the point of shedding the seed before gathering.
