    Hi All,

I have some marketmore cucumbers to plant out. I was going to put them in a grow bag. Will this be deep enough for the roots or do i need to take the bottom out of a plant pot and sink this into the growbag? do i need to put support up for them as i am reading mixed reviews on this?

How many plants do you have? What is a good idea (I read it here) is to drape the growbag over your forearm and allow equal parts to fall into each end of the bag, cut along one side of the bag and produce two growbags of a greater depth than they would be on the level.

Yes you need support for cuc's.

    Cheers, Tony.

Marketmore will happily scramble along the ground as well as growing up supports. I did both with mine last year, growing up rylock mesh plus over polythene mulch sheets.

This was a picking from the ones on the ground without supports:

    Hi kleftiwallah,

I have 3 plants. The plan was to make a trellis to put behind the growbag. but if i do it your way i can just put a 6 foot cane in the halved growbag.

Taking the bottom out of a pot and sinking it in a grow bag is quite a good strategy as it helps prevent basal stem rot which can happen if the cucs are kept too damp.
