In most cases you just can't beat M&S for good quality food - prices are not the lowest - but then this if almost always reflected in the quality and taste.

Just wanted to warn everyone off the M&S butchers selection low fat sausages - they are just awful. ASDA extra special are much better.

    Shame on you M&S.:nonofinger:

When making sausages, our local actual real butcher selects only the worthless cuts of meat to go in them. He finds all the bits that haven't sold and wont last much longer, minces it up with herbs and spices, and sells them cheap with absolutely no qualms about telling us what went in them. They are probably not low fat. I think 'butchers selection' and 'low fat' and mutually exclusive terms when talking about sausages, and that's how it ought to be. I wonder if Marks and Sparks sausages were ever even seen by an actual butcher. More likely the buying team found a cheap source of meat and a cheap factory, did some calculations about profit margins, got the marketing team to design a label and branding, and then let the logistics team sort out getting them into the shops.

Anything marked up as low fat is usually low taste.

Take out the fat and it aint worth eating.
      But it is trendy;)

Thing is: is it all a matter of taste? :dunno:

I've never bought an M&S banger in my life: nor an Asda one either

There is a local butcher, who makes the most divine sausages, which has kept its authenticity since I was a lass. *Those* are the sausages (well, 'chips', actually) that I go for. Mind you, they are so expensive now, they are almost the equivalent of a supermarket fillet steak :hate-shocked: (Note I said "almost" ;) in other words, they are not a cheap meal option, but, by golly they are a definite "meal" quality sausage!). To quantify: this is based on the days of old when a "sausage" was more gristle than meat and more fat than a lb of lard! :eeew:
This particular sausage has stood the test of time in terms of quality, taste and a "little of what you fancy does you good" ;)

Just don't eat them daily :heehee:
