I am growing spinach for the first time. Pulled some leaves off yesterday and it was delicious. There are however some of the leaves with some marks on, they dont look like they have been eaten, maybe a scorched look or even from a distance i thought they had bird droppings on them. Hasnt been hot here and not the bird droppings either so wondered if anyone could add any light to the situation. Its by no means on lots of the leaves just a small amount (so far).

    Hi Sharon,
Are the marks like a whitish wriggly path made by something? If so I'd be interested to know because I've seen this effect on my spinach also.

John, if you`ve got whitish, wriggly marks on the leaves then you have leaf miner. Pull them off and destroy them. David.

mine are more blobs, i just pull the affected leaves off and am pulling loads off to eat as it grows. Not sure how long the leaves will keep coming if i do this but there are loads on there today again, so will continue as long as possible. I dont even know what a fully grown spinach looks like. Think i will go and look in my book.
