And these are a few things I have looked at so far....!!!!!!
This is a seed from one of the Cow parsley family of plants..
And lastly, as close as I could get
    [IMG]

It is quite surprising what you can see..

For instance a piece of peppercorn from the black pepper grinder...

You can actually see the crystal like
    structure in the close up..

    A single cumin seed..

and close up of the tip..

I went into the garden & had a look at the lawn & found a piece if grass with a seed head.... This is one tiny single seed from the head....
    you can get closer too
    [IMG]
    to this...

I looked at a grain of salt but it was a bit shiney under the light.. I will have to practice with the light level I think.... Here it is anyway..

I hope you won't find this boring...!!

A single strand of fluff from Old Man's Beard....

I thought everyone could relate to this next one... A single needle from a Norway Spruce...
    Shiney top side..
and the underside... This I found very interesting & shall have to read up a bit..
    close up..

    1 strand of sphagnum moss
    [IMG]
at this magnification it looks more like pond weed...!

But I think the best so far has been the lines of spores on the back of my hearts tongue fern below....

I was able to just get closer
    [IMG]
    and closer
    [IMG]
    just look at these spores..!!

:thmb: Well I hope I haven't bored you all.... I can't wait to be able to look at pollen & flower stamens....!!! So many things to look at & see.....!!!!! I think this would make an excellent present for any science or inquisitive minded people, young & old, male or female.....!!! A good all rounder present.... 10 out of 10 from me..!!:thmb::D

:thumb: It really is quite fascinating Woo... All sorts of things look nothing like you think they do...!!! At the moment I am sitting enjoying it, all cosy in the warm, but I can't wait to look into flowers & get some insect close-ups... Can you believe it I have't found an insect to put under there yet... Think I shall have to go out to the shed...:hehe: Maybe a spider or two...!:D:rotfl:

Oöh, that is a wonderful present, Marley. Those MACRO CLOSE-UPS are something else!!! :gnthb::gnthb:

After looking at such pictures, nothing can be taken for granted any more. Nature is the best inventor, isn't she? - and she knows what she is doing too!

I thought that this one looked like a flower on snow!

For instance a piece of peppercorn from the black pepper grinder...

Hope you will share more pics with us, I really enjoyed them. Thanks Marley!

Nice stuff Marley. Microscopy is fascinating. We had similar 'scopes' at school, though not as good as yours and the kids loved using them. It opened up a whole new world.

If you are stuck for subjects - try the contents of your hoover. You never know what you'll find:wink:

That's a bit spooky Marley but I can see it's 'you' :gnthb: Looking forward to seeing what you profer with it .....

Haven't got my present yet as they won't send it to me from the UK and I can get it half price from Amazon (good deal with the £/Euro rate) so I'm seeing about having it sent to friends and then they can 'bring' it over to me end of January ... it's photographic ... :yho:
