I thought (obviously wrongly) that masking tape should stay in place until I peel it off. I'm sure that's what it used to do, so what's with this 'new' self-peeling stuff then :frown: I carefully masked all round my kitchen cupboards yesterday only to find it peeling itself off again this afternoon. :gaah:

It's probably the 'Low Stick' stuff, designed to peel away easily without taking off what's underneath. It might be the case that you need to give it a good clean in the area you want to mask off.

Nope, tried all that, even bought "better quality" masking tape if such a thing even exists these days, it all peels itself off

I was told, some years ago, that there re different types of masking tape and it depends on how long you want it to stick on for. They mentioned 2 hour tape,0ne day and two day and, I guess, there is one week etc.

Stuff I've used in the past has always been a bugger to remove if you left it on for more than a couple of days.
I've recently come across some low tack stuff that peels off, on its own, in about and hour or less.
Its useless in my way of thinking.

Yes, "In the past" masking tape was good and sticky, @Freddy when did you actually last buy any masking tape? Incidentally "Stickies" those little square reminder things, well they don't stick anymore either!!! My last 'reminder' fell on the floor within an hour!! :heehee:

I can't remember, but I use it often at work. Pretty sure it's the same stuff I linked to. Seems ok in use :)

But why doesn't it say on the roll how strong it is? I really don't want to mask it all off again, I'll just keep pushing it back in place for now and get painting pronto!!! Thank you for the link though Freddy. :)

Ah pete that masking tape that peels off in an hour or less is perfect for using to attach paper to a drawing board for technical drawings

I went through rolls and rolls of it for uni. Its a nightmare when you get the stickier stuff by mistake cause that then rips the paper.

So yeh thats the use for that kind of masking tape
