I have just had to say goodbye to my best pal Max who has been constantly at my side for twelve years. Dogs have the irritating habit of sneakily becoming members of the family. When they pass on you suddenly find a bright light in your life that you may have barely noticed all the while has suddenly gone out. Max's entire life was one big game of chase and fetch and water (preferably mud) and general unmalicious mischief. Never was a day in his life that he didn't make me smile or feel better for observing his joy in life itself. I am really going to miss him.

Oh geeze Kev....... I'm so so sorry. Yes our pets definitely become part of our family and bury themselves firmly and deeply in our hearts. My deepest sympathy.

Kevin, My deepest sympathy, it is like losing a child, I should know I have lost both and their memory stays with you forever. :doggieshmooze:

I'm so sorry, Kevin. Dogs have a major design fault ... their lives just aren't long enough.

    Thanks everyone.

I agee about the design flaw. Dogs 'deserve' a much longer innings.
One consolation I have is that Max seemed to have had an exceedingly happy life. This was a dog that was in constant tail wag mode - in fact the the whole dog wagged from the tip of the nose to the end of the tail. Even when he was asleep it was not unusual to see his tail wagging.

    I will miss him sorely

Sorry to hear about Max, Kev. When I lost my dog due to old age I was broken hearted and wept many a tear as did my Wife. Animals have, as you say, a way of becoming not just pets but part of the family. I think you're right, you should find some consolation in that Max had a really great life with you.:doggieshmooze:
