Hi, I am growing melons, but many of their leaves die off, the entire plant has only a few leaves. Does anyone know what's the cause?

Will make a photo later today.

Assuming you are in the UK Sven, then unless you have a heated greenhouse your melons will be dying down naturally.

Are the plants in direct sunlight all day Sven ?
My cucurbits get mold on the leaves, but i guess thats not a problem where you are.

    I think it's Jamaica.
I don't know anything about growing anything there but I know someone who does.
I'm sure she'll be along :gnthb:

I can see the problem now, that great big yellow pin is making the melon's leaves fall off.

    :hehe:

Ha ha ha! I am sorry I was off and missed so much of it, but here I am again. Yes, I am living in Kingston, Jamaica, since now 11 years. I am a German, by the way. And still feel my roots to Europe, to my country, my home town. But I am here now.

My cucurbitae grows in nearly full sun light. During morning, the light wouldn't reach many of the leaves of my melon, as they grow along a big wheel-alike structure which is between light and plant. By noon and until evening, the leaves receive full sun light.

I am watering the pot in which the plants stand, two times a day (if it doesn't rain).

Hi Sven, not a melon grower so asked Barbara out there.. From what sh says I am not too sure about growing them in pots, I know Barbara always puts them in the ground as hers rassle about around the garden...She thinks it may be that it feels pot bound as they don't like pots she says & she thinks it will shed leaves like that because it is trying to make new growth all the time & because it is pot bound it can't because of that, they like to spread their roots she says... I hope that is of some help if not put a pic up & we will try again...
