Wife and I have just been talking about next year's holiday ideas. I said I just fancied Cornwall again, but I don't fancy taking the kids to Tintagel. Wife asked why. I reminded her how I'd casually jumped from the path into one of the windows of the castle ruins, then slammed my arms out in blind panic at the realisation that the other side of the window I'd jumped into was a sheer drop of approx 700ft. The momentum of my casual hop nearly took me to my death, but thankfully I managed to kill the momentum by slamming my arms out and grabbing the walls either side of the window I was jumping through.

Never jump through a window, even if there's no glass in it:hate-shocked:

So lets have it, your most memorable holiday moments. They can be memorable for nice reasons, or horrendous reasons, or sheer terrifying reasons. Ought you like.

My most memorable one moment was just after 6am, opening a caravan door to one of the most beautiful sights that you could ask for.

I was on holiday with my mum and some family friends in a large static van on the banks of Loch Fyne, just outside Inverarie. I travelled up on a Saturday morning, and it was lashing with rain (and I mean, lashing); it rained for the entire day and into the night, so we all sat in the caravan playing cards and drinking far too much. The following morning, I woke and wanted a cig, so threw open the van door to see the sun rising over Loch Fyne, with the mist rising and hovering like a scarf midway up the hills - above the mist, blue skies and gorgeous sun, below the green of the hills, the twinkling of the water and wee boats bobbing up and down at anchor.

The weather for the rest of the week was stunning (I got burnt to a crisp, on holiday, in Scotland, in MAY!), and the area around Inverarie stole my heart. If I won the lottery, I would buy or build somewhere in that area without thinking twice.

 Many moons ago me and Mrs Roders travelled to Egypt to the pyramids of Giza.
We were told in no uncertain terms NOT to give our camera to the Arabs, so how else was I going to get a pic. of this memorable moment............I did and it cost me a dollar to get it back.
        Well woth it.
Apparently it was common practice for the Arabs to steal the tourist's cameras.

I will have to be careful. I have a windows phone! :yikes:
Also, even more worrying, I am up The Shard tomorrow! I won't be jumping through any windows up there :heehee:
I chickened out on The Eye (not keen on heights)

What I used to find memorable about holidays on the coast was the taste of the fish fresh from the sea, when we got home I didn't want to buy it at the supermarket anymore as it was tasteless by comparison.
