That looks a bit hair-raising Robert .... how high off the ground were you?

I love helicopters but have never been in one .... I wanted a remote one for my birthday this year but no-one would post one to here.

That would only be about 60 odd feet. enough to give you a nasty lump.
I can remember looking up at the chopper while being lowered and thinking "what is holding that up"? It is the most strange experiance.

Here is a memory for my Sis .... our dear Aunt and Uncle (who brought us up after our mother died in 1956) came to visit me and t'other half in Alabama in 1975 (I was 27). Uncle had just had a heart attack but the doctors cleared him for the trip. He loved America and sadly died in the Spring of 1978. Here we are at Fontana, North Carolina in the Smokies ... one of my favourite photos with them.

Lol, sorry is that you or sis in the photo? I think sis but maybe wrong, (always, no really!!!) Trying to see between you two is hard enough!

Anyway, that reminds me of a pic I have of me, my mum & dad. So natural. I love it.

Lovely to see it. Brings back good memories eh?

    cheers

    :thku: Aaron and borrowers.

Borrowers, that's me in the photo. I've always had more or less waist-length strawberry blonde hair (still do). Sis has short brunette hair so we're easy to tell apart. :flwsml:

Come on folk, capney has put an interesting thread up here so let's hear your stories and see your pictures.

    Another memory..
This is me way back in the 60s again. On the beach at a place called Butterworth on the west coast of Malaysia. Penang Island will be just out of site on the left.
Looks really like a tropical paradise, but the fact is that sea was full of nasties that had every intent to do you harm.
Jellyfish like dinner plates, sea snakes, and a host of other things with teeth.
Apart from that it was great place to chill out for awhile.

Whoa Robert ... did that palm fall over in admiration as your drop-dead-gorgeous self walked past ??????? Who would want to go in the sea, I ask ..... :luv:

    LoL
    You make me very happy.
Still got it today, but it tends to affect the over 70s more. not sure why.....

This picture is from the aircraft I was flying over Sabah with Mount Kinabulu in the distance. We were heading up to the Phillipines on this trip and called into a place called Jesselton and had a night with the local flying club and it happened to be Burns night.... A strange experiance seeing the hagis being piped in in a tropical location. Most of the members of the club were English/Scottish rubber planters so the falling down water flowed freely and then we were invited to take a trip in one of the small aircraft around the Island!
I politly declined as we had an early start in the morning.!
    Memories.......

Wow, Robert just seen this. My dad was in the 'isles' sometime I think cos of a few photos we have but didn't get to talk about it. Must be great (although not in a way) to look back and have something in black & white (if you know what I mean).

Dad had a photo with a giant tortoise so I think it was in Malaya or somewhere, like I said it was never talked about. Dad would not fly though!

Mum & me went to Spain in the early '70's . He wouldn't come! Thanks for sharing - it's nice to know some of the people that protected us.

    cheers
