Ha! Avec plaisir..... It got there before Spring, then ;) A tip for anyone sending Christmas cards abroad this year.....post them in mid-November! We're still getting cards posted on 15th December!

You are spot on @noisette47 . When I ran my own mail order business the last posting date for Europe was, depending on when Christmas day fell, around the 10th-12th December, certainly the 15th would be too late to get most things delivered in time for the big day.

I do love the French habit of sending New Year cards instead of Christmas cards....there's so much more time to write them, for a start :)

I always thought that the cut-off point for letters and cards was the 18th December, but obviously not!
Have you seen the latest idea? The posties here are being converted to social workers...will spend 30 minutes or so chatting with and keeping an eye on the elderly and isolated. For €20 :yikes: That's something that they've been doing unofficially for years

Yep, our Posties know everyone they deliver to, will chat about anything, and we've never had a grumpy one yet. I do sometimes have to "train" any new Postie to put the mail in the Mail Box

rather than risk their fingers in the metal letter slot in the front door.:dunno::heehee:
