Good morning, saw this site whilst randomly browsing for info on the best thing to fill raised beds with loved it and joined it.

I am a complete beginner to all this but finding the process of planting, weeding, and general pottering strangely satisfying (my wife and daughter mantain it's my age).

Recently moved into a country cottage with 3rd of an acre with very clay soil and trying to make a go of it.

Looking forward to your help and advice.

      Welcome CANKSTER :sign0016:

I have a 1/4 acre and heavy clay soil and in two years of living here have only made small "improvements" but I am learning a lot from the lovely regulars on here :)

Looking forward to getting to know you :)

      Hello Cankster and welcome.

Yes, its your age. The imminent mid-life crisis. Your idea of a good night is no longer that you get drunk in some town without knowing how you got there and then sleeping at a stranger's house, but instead is a few cans in the house after some satisfying work in the garden. Or better still, sitting outside with a few tinnies even though you're freezing, because earlier that day you just finished the new patio.

      I'm joking (I think). Welcome:)

Hi Cankster (or is that Crankster? :lunapic 130165696578242 5: )

I flooded more than half of my clayey back garden. That saved a lot of weeding and mowing.

(I put in a pond.) Food for thought?
