Hi There there,s no such thing as a stupid question just a stupid answer,so I am the one who has to be carefull :DI usually spray all the Rose (But not the flowers)
The leaves both sides, the main stem and and the and the secondary stems and (and please don,t forget Round the base of the Rose) Best time to do this is Early morning or late evening(Never in the full sun) Hope this is of some help.:)

Anywhere the bugs are, usually the new growth/bud area, but many of the sprays attack caterpillars and other nasties some of which prefer bigger leaves, so where ever the bugs are that's where you spray.

Main thing is to remember the underside of the laeves, I use a short length of bambo cane to slightly lift the branches so as to get good coveradge underneath. Sound laboriuse but only takes seconds.

Thanks Chaps, I much appreciate your answers. I think I'm gonna try the soapy water remedy first, although I DO have a chemicaal spray. None of the blooms are open yet, but I don't think soapy water would harm them would it? I've already sprayed a white Clematis that was the proverbially running alive with greenfly! I'll need to keep spraying soapy water every night won't I?
