I spent ages a couple of months thinking I had dug it out however I have not it is now growing across towards my lawn. The area it is growing across is going to be dug up and turned into a patio so I'm not worried about the soil here so my question is will round up kill it off?

Just a thought: if you were digging it out from your side, is it possible that it originated in your garden and a bit grew in your neighbours? :dunno:

When I say digging it up thats not strictly true I was yanking and pulling, cutting and digging lol and found some roots. So it could just be there from lord knows when and not belong to either of us. I do however know that I shall be removing it again before it hits my lawn. It will be easier to stay on top of when the patio is in.

I think you'll find you might need several applications of Roundup over a period of time, stacym, to kill it off entirely.:wallbanging::snork: Many years ago my wife and I were contemplating planting Russian Vine in the garden, but we did a little research and then looked at each other and said "Naaaaah!!":heehee:

Well, it should take a day or so for the Russian Vine to show signs that you don't like it:snork:, so I would say once a week for the next four weeks........and then since it is such a tenacious plant keep an eye in that area for any further shoots. Roundup is not a systemic weed killer and I would think in this case it may pay you to use a weed killer that is, so that the whole plant from leaf to root absorbs the poison and will die. Contact weed killers are not as efficient at killing tough plants as systemic ones.;)

Yep, you can get it from Supermarkets, Wilko's and Plant Centres, no problem, Stacym Make sure if it does say "Systemic" on the bottle/sprayer and follow the instructions to get the best effect.:coffee:

Sorry to argue Armandii, but Round-up is a systemic weedkiller. :)

No, I originally thought it was, Sheal, but if you check the bottle [and I have one sitting in front of me:snork:] it [a] makes no mention of being systemic and is biodegradeable and becomes inactive on contact with soil. It will on contact with a plant be absorbed into a plant but only partially and unlike a systemic will not stay in the plant to the end......hence the need to keep re-applying it.:dunno:
