My greenhouse is at 6C just now. Is that too cold for tomato seedlings at night time? Should I be switching the electric heater on? If so, what temp is best for them?

Well very young seedlings need about 13C or possibly 10C for short periods.

If they turn a purple colour it because they are too cold

Ah ok. They're purple. I think someone pointed that out in a pic I already posted this morning for another question I had.

Would it be detrimental to be at 6C for just overnight regularly? Or does the fact the day temperatures are around 30C balance it out?

If it's only at night the temperatures are low you could cover them with some fleece or bubble wrap removing it in the morning. I made a bubble wrap tent for mine as my greenhouse is unheated.
