    Some plants like the toothworts and broomrapes are parasitic. They have no leaves of their own and cannot make chlorophyl. So they grow from the roots of their hosts.

    Knapweed Broomrape - don't worry, you are highly unlikely to get any in your gardens.

    They're lovely, but I didnt know they were parasitic!

    I wouldnt mind them in my garden they look rather nice..and i am sure they would fit in....
