For a while now I've been thinking it was quite big. I made the wife have a look, she was reluctant but once she saw it she was stunned. So I measured it. It measures almost exactly 12 inches so far and its still not fully filled out. Its the biggest runner bean I've ever grown.

14 and a half inches now.

I should say that its the only bean I've left on that one particular bean stalk. Its become a bit of a novelty now. Probably I wont even eat it because that would be a shame. If it makes it as far as producing mature beans I might dry it for the seeds.

Apparently the British record is around 2ft, and the world record is about 4ft, so quite a way to go yet:)

Dig the whole plant up, put it in a bucket, train it to grow up the bannister & replace the stair & landing lights with Metal Halide lamps.

              Mrs will love your inventiveness:dbgrtmb:
